Businesses change, they grow, they niche down - you grow and change as a business owner too! So it only makes sense that your brand grows with you. But the question is, how do you know when it's time to tweak your brand?
Signs that your brand needs tweaking:
Your customers have changed: The customers you had before are not the same ones you have today. Maybe they have bigger budgets, live differently, are from different areas.
Your messaging is inconsistent: As your business grows, so does your messaging, but have you got yourself all muddled up? Is it easy for prospective clients to know how you can helo them or is it confusing?
Your look is dated: When you look at your logo, style and visuals do they look old? Has the look gone out of fashion and it's making your business look irrelevant?
New products or service: Has what you offer grown or changed? New services often means a new set of clients, does your brand encompas what you offer now?
You feel a bit embarrased: When you hand someone your business card, are you a little embarassed? That's a big sign that your brand needs updating!
What does it mean to tweak your brand though?
Well, this could be anything from, redesigning the logo and graphic system to support it, reworking the strategy behind the brand so it appeals to the right people or it could be just working on the message itself. Of course, it could be ALL of these too! It's important to find out where the gaps are in your brand first, before starting to work on it.
If you're struggling with your brand, get in touch with a brand strategist and designer (me obviously!) and you can discuss what is and isn't working and get going to build a new brand that works (and you don't feel embarassed by!)
